NEWPORT BAY SPRING FESTIVAL

ART COMPETITION 2010

Entries are invited for the Newport Bay Spring Festival

Art Competition organised by The Studio at Penrallt

The theme is ‘Wildlife of Newport, Pembrokeshire’

The competition will be judged by Dee Doody, TV Wildlife Presenter, artist and filmmaker.

Entries will be exhibited at The Studio at Penrallt, Penrallt Farm, Newport, Pembrokeshire SA42 0QE for the Festival weekend Sat 1 May to Mon 3 May 2010 (10 –4pm).

Best Badger (or badger habitat) prizes*:

*Best Badger prizes are provided by the sponsors in order to celebrate our local badgers while we still have them. In addition, the Badger Trust are sponsoring membership packs for both Best Badger prize winners. www.badger.org.uk

Conditions:

1. One or two original paintings or drawings can be submitted per person. Maximum size 12in by 16in (A3)

2. Entries can be delivered to The Studio at Penrallt, Penrallt Farm (Off Cilgwyn Road), Newport Pembs SA42 0QE from 23 April, 2pm-4pm.

3. Closing time for entries is 4pm Friday 30 April. Entries can also be accepted by post but must arrive be 30 April

4. All must be accompanied by an entry form available at www.thestudioatpenrallt.co.uk

5. The children’s prize is limited to children under the age of fifteen on 30 April 2010. 

6. The other prizes are open to all entrants but no single painting will be awarded more than one prize.

7. There is a non-returnable entry fee per painting of £2 for adults, £1 for children.

8. Pictures can be framed or unframed. Framed paintings must have a stout cord for hanging purposes.

Unframed entries must be on mounted on card. A label should be attached to the back of each work with name, address, telephone number, plus the title of the picture and medium used.

9. Work can be collected from 4pm Monday 3 May and must be collected by Wednesday 6 May. Entries can be returned by post but only if accompanied by sufficient prepaid post and packing.

10.Whilst every care will be taken with work submitted, no liability for loss or damage whatsoever to the painting, frame or any other part of the picture will be accepted. Artists are strongly advised to insure their own work.

11.Pictures may be photographed for publicity purposes connected to Newport Festival or the local area.

12.Judging will take place on the evening of 30 April. Judges decisions will be final.

13.Depending on the number of entries, the organisers reserve the right only to exhibit the best entries (as determined by the judge).

14.Dates for accommodation prizes will be by negotiation, subject to availability. Llys Meddyg weekend includes two nights bed and breakfast for two people with dinner (not including drinks) on one night only. Bwthyn Bach holiday cottage is one week’s accommodation only Sep-Nov 2010.
